Today is a new day
A new breath of life
A new triumph I will uphold
What happened yesterday
will not harm me today
Whomever caused me harm
Will not control me this hour
I am strength
I am courage
I have survived
Today is a new day

I choose to ignore the scars of my past
I choose to give light on a field of darkness
I choose to make this moment matter
With or without those who say “I love you”
With or without those who play my emotions
